ABDUL MAJEED Versus GOVERNMENT OF PUNJAB

The petitioner is admittedly a civil servant. The grievance raised in this petition relates to terms and conditions of his service. It is, however, not necessary to examine the merits of the case. Suffice it to say that the material placed on the record does not show that the petitioner earlier approached the departmental authorities through a formal representation for redress of his grievance.

2. When faced with this, Mr. M. Farani, respectfully submitted that the petitioner would submit a representation to the competent departmental authority within a week. If that is so, I have no doubt in my mind that the competent authority shall dispose of the same within thirty days of its receipt, justly, fairly, on merits and in accordance with law and a copy of the decision taken in regard thereto shall be supplied to the petitioner. Needless to observe that in the event of an adverse decision, the petitioner will be at liberty to approach the appropriate Service Tribunal for redress of his grievance.

With the above observations, the writ petition is disposed of. No costs.
