What the library holds
Judgments of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, the Federal Constitutional Court and the Federal Shariat Court; the Lahore, Sindh, Peshawar, Islamabad and Balochistan High Courts; the courts of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan; and service, labour, tax and other tribunals.
They are the judgments reported in Pakistan's law reports, among them PLD, SCMR, CLC, YLR, MLD, PCr.LJ, PLC, PLC (C.S.), PTD and CLD.
Ways to find a judgment
- By citation. Type the year, law report and page, for example 2019 SCMR 984.
- By words. Search the full text of every judgment.
- By court or judge. List the judgments of one court, or of one judge.
- By legal question. Ask in plain words and see the judgments that answer it.
- By browsing. Go through the library by court, law report and year, or see the latest judgments.
A judgment links to the cases it cites and to the later judgments that cite it, so you can follow a point of law forward and back. Start at search.
Kept up to date
The law reports are checked every day and newly reported judgments are added as they appear. Many judgments also carry a short summary and the questions the judgment settles. These help you find the right case; they are not a substitute for it. Read the judgment, and check the official report before citing it.
